Quick answer: set up a business portfolio and tracking first, choose the campaign objective that matches the result you want (Leads or Sales rather than Traffic), target Qatar or the parts of Doha you serve with a reasonably broad audience, run two or three ad variations in Arabic and English, and leave the campaign alone for at least a week before judging it.
Pressing “Boost post” is the fastest way to spend money on Facebook and Instagram, and often the least useful. A campaign built in Meta Ads Manager takes a little longer to set up, but it lets you decide what you pay for, who sees the ads and how you measure enquiries. This walkthrough follows the order in which a first campaign should be built for a business in Doha.
Before you open Ads Manager
- A business portfolio (formerly Business Manager) owned by your company, holding your Facebook Page, Instagram account and ad account. Avoid running ads from someone’s personal ad account.
- A destination that matches the ad: a product page, a booking page or a lead form, not the homepage.
- Tracking: the Meta Pixel on your website and, where possible, the Conversions API, so Meta can see purchases or form submissions and optimize toward them.
Step 1: Pick the objective that matches your goal
Meta organizes campaigns into six objectives: Awareness, Traffic, Engagement, Leads, App promotion and Sales. The objective tells the delivery system which people to look for. A clinic that wants appointment requests should choose Leads; a store that sells online should choose Sales. Choosing Traffic when you want purchases usually brings visitors who click and leave.
Step 2: Define who should see the ads
Start with location, age and, where it matters, language. You can target all of Qatar or draw a radius around specific areas of Doha if you only deliver or serve customers nearby. Keep the audience broad enough for the system to learn; a long stack of narrow interests often raises costs without improving results.
Two audiences are worth building early:
- Custom audiences of website visitors, Instagram engagers or existing customers, for retargeting.
- Lookalike audiences based on your customers, once you have enough of them.
Step 3: Placements and budget
Advantage+ placements let Meta show the ads across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and its partner network. For a first campaign this is a sensible default; you can exclude placements later if the data shows they perform poorly.
Set a budget you can keep running for at least two weeks. Each ad set goes through a learning phase, and Meta’s guidance is that it needs about 50 optimization events within a week to exit it. Spreading a small budget across many ad sets can keep all of them stuck in learning.
Step 4: Write the ads for each audience
In Doha, many campaigns need Arabic and English versions. Write each one for its reader instead of translating, and keep the message tight:
- Say what you offer and for whom in the first line.
- Show the real product, place or result, not a generic stock image.
- Prepare vertical 9:16 versions for Stories and Reels and 4:5 or square for feeds.
- Use one call to action, such as Book now, Shop now or Get quote.
Step 5: Check the advertising policies
Every ad is reviewed. Some topics, such as financial services, employment and housing, fall under special ad categories with limited targeting options, and health or weight-loss ads face extra rules. Avoid copy that addresses personal attributes (“Are you struggling with…?”) and claims that promise outcomes. Rejections delay a launch; repeated violations can restrict the account.
Step 6: Read the first results calmly
Large edits can restart the learning phase, so avoid daily changes. After the first week, compare:
- Cost per result for your chosen objective, such as cost per lead.
- Click-through rate per ad, to see which creative earns attention.
- What happens after the click: form completions, add-to-cart or bookings.
Pause clear underperformers, move budget to what works and add a fresh creative every few weeks.
Answer leads the same day
A lead is a person waiting for a reply. Connect lead forms to email or your CRM so enquiries do not sit unseen in Ads Manager, and plan who answers them during the Sunday to Thursday working week and at weekends.
Frequently asked questions
Is boosting a post ever useful?
It can add reach to a post that already performs well organically, but it offers fewer objectives and less control than a campaign built in Ads Manager.
Should I run separate campaigns for Arabic and English?
Often, separate ads within the same campaign are enough. Separate ad sets make sense when the languages target clearly different audiences or offers.
How long before I know if it works?
Give a campaign at least one to two weeks of steady delivery before drawing conclusions, longer if results are infrequent, such as high-value enquiries.
